The student will learn Magnetic particle inspection process methods for the detection of surface and sub-surface defects in ferrous materials. Course will describe the principles, limitations, and advantages of magnetic particle testing (MT). Students will learn about longitudinal and circular magnetism, direct and indirect magnetism, and utilize equipment with magnetism to inspect parts. Magnetic particle testing techniques including dry and wet medium, as well as visible and fluorescent particle techniques will be studied and applied. The courses will meet the training requirements of ASNT's SNT-TC-1A-2001 and CP-189-2001 Edition Levels I & II.
